Overview

getAddress() Denmark is DAWA's API (Danmarks Adressers Web API), served from the Danish Address Register (DAR). DAWA closes on 1 October 2026. The paths, query parameters, field names, ids and error bodies here are DAWA's, so code written for DAWA keeps working: change the host and add your API key.

Endpoints and what they cost

A look-up is what your plan's daily allowance counts. Street names and postcodes are free. Every request, free or not, counts towards your plan's rate limit.

`/autocomplete`	1 look-up for an answer that suggests addresses or access addresses. An answer of street names, or an empty one, is free.
`/adresser/autocomplete`, `/adgangsadresser/autocomplete`	1 look-up per answer that is not empty, however many suggestions it holds.
`/adresser/{id}`, `/adgangsadresser/{id}`	1 look-up. An id that is not found costs nothing.
`/adresser`, `/adgangsadresser`	1 look-up per record returned. A page is at most 100 records.
`/adgangsadresser/reverse`	1 look-up.
`/vejnavne`, `/vejnavne/{navn}`, `/vejnavne/autocomplete`	Free.
`/postnumre`, `/postnumre/{nr}`, `/postnumre/autocomplete`	Free.
`/usage`	Free. Takes your admin key.

Several values for one filter are separated by |, as in DAWA: postnr=2300|2100. Parameters this API does not know are ignored, as DAWA ignored them.

Limits

Your plan sets a number of look-ups per UTC day. When they run out, metered endpoints answer 429 with a Retry-After header until midnight UTC; free endpoints keep working.
Your plan also sets a number of requests per 5 minutes, across all endpoints. Over it, the answer is 429 with Retry-After.
These refusals are problem details (application/problem+json). DAWA's own errors keep DAWA's shape. Both are on Errors.
